Long Island Order Protection Attorneys

Depending on the circumstances of each case, an order of protection is usually granted for one year, unless, special cirumstances exist.

Common Types of Orders of Protection?

A Stay Away Order prohibits the respondent from entering or staying in the same area as the petitioner or the petitioner’s family. Under this order, the respondent is forbidden to come near or enter the petitioner’s workplace, home, or school.

The Refrain-From Order bans the respondent from abusing, threatening, stalking, harming, or harassing the petitioner while still allowing the respondent to be in close proximityto the petitioner.
